As everywhere else, climate change is affecting the rich ecosystem of Prespa as well.
Year after year, water is becoming scarcer as rainfall and especially snowfall decreases. Streams are drying up. The level of the lakes is falling. Fires increase in frequency and intensity.
Wildlife, flora and human activities around the lake are affected by these phenomena.
What can we do?
The Society for the Protection of Prespa aims in raising public awareness. Soon a website will be published that for those interested in the effects of climate change on Prespa National Park as well as detailed reports on the weather and the degree of risk of specific periods and/or conditions.
Volunteer for the Climate Change Action Group and take part in study-based interventions that can make a difference.
